Comparing yourself to others is very common in this industry. Comparing yourself to people who are have roles you want, looking at the people who are slaying the dance call when you can’t remember the first step, jealousy is a very evil monster.
When other people succeed, it does not mean you failed. There are enough opportunities out there for everyone to be happy with their lives. Instead of putting negative energy on those who have the “life you want”, be happy for them because one day you will want them to support you too.
Put your energy into learning from the people who are living their dream. Most of the time, it is because they are positive, loving, confident human beings who put that energy out into the universe. Don’t get me wrong, I catch myself being jealous of other performers all the time, people who are my age performing in roles I’ve dreamed about. But their success should not determine whether I am happy or not, because in the end we all strive to live fulfilling lives.
When people start hearing back from college programs or any casting situation, be truly proud of your peers. Positive energy is so much stronger than negative, you will be where you are supposed to be.
